SWISS-SDR / Learn & get started
KiwiSDR: Shortwave directly in your browser.
KiwiSDR combines its own receiving hardware with a web-based interface. Open a public receiver, choose a frequency and listen from the perspective of its location.
A distinct SDR platform
KiwiSDR is a hardware and software project for web-based radio reception. Multiple listeners can use a suitably configured receiver. The number of available connections, access and time limits depend on the device and operator.
Location and antenna shape reception
Shortwave reception changes with time of day, propagation and local interference. A receiving site in Aargau may produce different results from one in Ticino. Compare the documented antenna and usable range rather than looking only at the device’s name.
How do I open the original interface?
Choose a receiver in the KiwiSDR portal and open “Listen now”. Set frequency, mode and audio on the original device. The SWISS-SDR account is for managing listings and does not replace access provided by the device operator.
Is a Web-888 also a KiwiSDR?
No. Similar web interfaces do not make the hardware identical. SWISS-SDR describes KiwiSDR and Web-888 separately.
